Straight teeth and a healthy bite go together. We align every tooth, close unwanted spacing, and make sure the upper and lower teeth meet the way they’re supposed to when you chew. This isn’t just cosmetic: a properly aligned bite is easier to clean, holds up better over time, and puts less strain on your jaw.

This is the one we’re known for. We build wide, full smiles, real tooth display across the arch, not the narrow six-tooth smiles with dark shadows in the corners that pass for “straight” almost everywhere else. Most orthodontists put braces on and call it done once teeth are aligned. We treat width as one of the most important parts of the job, because a smile can be perfectly straight and still not look like much. We shape the upper arch so it follows the natural curve of your lips, position the front teeth to show off just the right amount of tooth and gum, and line up your smile with the center of your face. Individual teeth have their own proportions, and getting those right is what separates a good result from a great one. We shape gum tissue and tooth dimensions together, removing excess gum where it’s hiding good teeth and refining height, width, and symmetry until each tooth looks intentional. This is the detail work most people don’t notice consciously, but it’s exactly what makes a smile look natural instead of manufactured.

Appliances and Technology Behind Every Carmen Smile

Our goal is to avoid extractions whenever possible, using expansion (widening the jaws and arches) and distalization (moving the molars backward to create more space). To achieve this, we do a lot of appliance work, from expanders and palatal appliances to temporary anchorage devices (TADs). We also use Invisalign® clear aligners, LightForce braces, and KLOwen braces to move teeth to their optimal places, combined with Dental Monitoring and indirect bonding to keep treatment efficient and convenient. Our office runs multiple in-house 3D printers and an AI-guided laser cutter, so most retainers are fabricated on-site rather than sent out.

The result: our extraction rate sits under 1%, compared to a national average near 26%. Invisalign cases average around 16 months and about 8 total visits, well below the national average of roughly 19. Dr. Carmen is also a Top 1% Diamond Invisalign provider.
